Windows 10: Issues with Windows Update-pushed Realtek SD Card Reader Driver.

Hello! I'm not sure if this belongs here or the Windows Update section, but here goes.

I have a USB 3.0 front panel card reader installed in my computer, an HP MCR15IN1-U2U3, attached to an add-in USB 3.0 PCIe card. It's based on the Realtek RTS5341 chip. Recently, I had a "Realtek Semiconductor Corp. - USB" driver update come through Windows Update. The update changed the generic mass storage slot icon to Realtek's various icons. Additionally, the reader has become very unstable, disconnecting when trying to transfer files. Unfortunately, I'm not able to roll back the driver in device manager as it shows as an entirely new device! It also doesn't show up in add/remove programs. I've attached a couple of screenshots showing the update and device manager. Any ideas on how to get my card reader functional again without reinstalling?!

We appreciate the troubleshooting methods performed to resolve the issue on your own. However from the above description, I have noticed you have not tried updating the SD card reader driver from the
Device manager option besides checking the SD card in the
Disk management on connecting to the PC.



You may be facing the above issue due to the non-updated device driver as the device is working in a good condition on every other software but Windows 10.



I suggest you to try updating the SD card reader driver from the Device manager by following the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

• Press Windows logo + X keys on the keyboard and select
  Device manager form the context menu.
• Expand Storage Controllers, right click on the card reader driver and select
  Update option from the context menu.
• Follow the on-screen instructions and wait for the update to complete.
• Close the window after the update is complete and check if the issue is resolved.

SD card reader driver problem on Windows 10.

I clicked on the Device Driver update. It indicated that my drivers are all up to date. My computer still will not recognize the SD Card. I am working with windows 10.
