Windows 10: Is a windows product key that says “oem-dm channel” in license details legit?

An online friend gave me a windows 11 pro key to use after I somehow lost access to my original license when resetting pc after a pc rebuild with new mobo ram and cpu but I’m afraid it is not legit as I get a blank white screen and an “IT administrator blocked access” when trying to access any windows security features, when I check the product key details through windows script host it says “oem-dm channel” at the end of it, but when I look up a windows product key detail online it shows “retail” in place of where oem-dm channel is in detail, first off is this a legit key? and second is that

Used a product key which is a FPP but now the license says OEM in Windows 10

I have a query regarding an activated Windows 10 Pro license key.



Scenario:

Earlier the PC had Windows 8.1 Pro (OEM) on and thereafter I clean installed Windows 10 Pro.

This Windows 10 Pro is 'Win Pro FPP 10 P2 32/64-bit Eng Intl USB' which I had bought from an offline channel.



Issues:

Upon checking on license type after running 'slmgr -dli' in the command prompt it returned information that the activated Windows 10 Pro license is an OEM_COA_NLSP.

The product key that came with the retail box (belonged to Windows 10 Pro FPP)



However, the license key used is a FPP one but it says OEM_COA_NLSP?



Please help, as the product key card in the retail box is for Windows 10 FPP and not OEM. I am due to replace the current PC in a few weeks' time and OEM would mean that I cannot transfer the license to another PC. (after removing from the current one of course)

"Flavors" of Windows licenses

Windows can be a little "odd" about license keys. There are at least 4 categories:

• Retail
• OEM
• Volume (electronic download)
• Corporate (no key needed)

For guaranteed success, the license key and media should be in the same category. If you have retail media, you may not be able to install it using an OEM or Volume license key, even though the key is valid for that version of Windows. *Wtf :wtf: Apparently, this is part of Microsoft's anti-piracy scheme (i.e., all customers are guilty until proven innocent).

Is the machine is activated currently?

You can check the type license installed on your system using these steps:

1. Open administrative Command Prompt.

2. Type slmgr /dlv and press Enter key.

3. Note the Product Key Channel section Windows Script Host box:

If it mentions OEM <method>, you’ve OEM license installed.

If it says Retail, you’ve retail license installed.

If it mentions GVLK, VOLUME_<method> then you’ve volume license installed. Note that GVLK stands for Generic Volume License Key.

So if it says OEM license, we can say the license may have come pre-installed with Windows 8.
