Windows 10: Internal SSD Detected as an HDD/ Disc Drive

Hello Microsoft Community,I recently purchased an HP Envy x360 laptop and installed windows 10 on it, but the internal SSD WD PC SN740 shows as a hard drive and disc drive in task manager, device manager, and on the task bar. It is strange because it showed as an SSD in windows 11 before and I have also had this same issue when I installed windows 10 on my Steam Deck. I do not know for sure if it is affecting performance, but I am afraid accidently ejecting it will break windows. I have also seen many others who have the same issue but never found a working solution so I hope others seeing t

SSD & HDD installed drives not visible

Hi All,

SSD & HDD installed drives not visible after checked windows update and re-plugged wifi usb. and my microsoftware is Windows Feature Experience Pack. please suggest me how to get SSD & HDD back. and after clicked on shutdown it is taking more than 2 to 3min to getting shutdown please help me on this issue.

i followed Prompt command steps,

PC manage drive

restarted system

noting is worked.

Upgrading Internal HDD to SSD

I have a Toshiba Satelite S855 with an internal HDD that I am upgrading to an SSD. The HDD is already running windows 10 from the free upgrade opportunity. Once installed, I want to be booting from the new SSD and the HDD will be a storage drive replacing
the CD bay. I want to do a clean wipe on the HDD.

What would be the best way to ensure that the SSD ends up with windows 10? I've been given a multitude of answers from people but nobody seems to be confident. I've been told to clone the drives then simply wipe the HDD. I've also been told that I should be
able to wipe the HDD, install the SSD in the C drive, and then simply install windows 10 from a USB media device. This is the first time I've done something like this so I just want to be sure in my ways.

So would either of those options work correctly? And if not, how should this be done?

Windows detects SSD drive as HDD

Hello, i have three disks in my PC

C: M.2 1TB SSD (windows drive)

D: 1TB HDD

E: M.2 1TB SSD

i freshly installed windows 11 pro, in task manager the only disk showing up as a SSD is my windows drive. the two other drives as HDD

i unplugged my HDD and formatted my E: disk again. then with only SSD drives running both shows up as SSD and it works, but as soon as i plugged the HDD back in and formatted it again, my E: (SSD) changed to HDD.

i have also benchmarked the Write speeds and my E: caps at the same speed as my HDD (260mb/s~) and it supposed to be at 3500 mb/s
