Windows 10: Intel High Definition Audio not working all of a sudden :(

Hi all, I've reached wits end and can no longer find any solution online hence I'm trying my luck over here in Reddit. My Intel High Definition Audio has suddenly stopped working and I have tried all means to fix it, to no avail. Right now my laptop has no volume at all and no sound driver is being detected in my device manager. My Intel High Definition Audio has become a problematic device as seen below, and I can't update it with anything. I have tried uninstalling it and then restarting my PC but it still doesn't work. I've read online that it might be due to an update but I did not carry out any update (or maybe my PC did it while I was unaware).

Solved the problem for me.

Device Manager->System Devices->Intel Smart Sound Audio Controller (or similar)

Roll Back to "High Definition Audio Controller"

Right Click-> Update Driver

Browse My Computer for driver software

Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer

Select "High Definition Audio Controller" Next

Once installed reboot and problem should be solved.

Hi. after the october update. the sound did not work anymore. in device manager : intel high definition audio did not have any driver. had to go to asus support page to get the propper driver.
