Windows 10: instead shut down, my laptop restarts after clicking shut down option

My Win10 desktop PC has begun restarting rather than shutting down lately, after I install wsl ubuntu from vscode from my work, and I feel like I've tried all of the usual methods to fix it, yet the issue persists.

Laptop Refuses to Shut Off


Hi, Phil. I'm doing what I've always done: slide the cursor to the lower left screen and click on Shut Down. But instead of shutting down the laptop responds as if I hit Restart.
Just tried your suggestion and hit shift but it made no difference. Laptop rebooted.

 

Random shut down and restart??

2.42 GHZ, 2.00 GB of RAM
Windows xp

Ever since I replaced the fan (with heat sink) the computer has randomly shut down and then restarted, at first during streaming, and now, will shut down and restart anytime. I tried to replace the graphics card to no avail. *Confused *Mad

One suggestion was to replace the RAM.

Any suggestions on how to repair my computer?

 

Laptop Shuts Down instead of Restarting when clicking on Restart

How come the computer is using Windows 1709? What were the problems with the DC power jack and keyboard? Can these areas be reevaluated? Swap test? What happens when the laptop is connected to the external monitor cable without attaching the monitor? Running multiple Windows versions / images indicated a non-operating system problem. For additional confirmation you can try an alternative operating system (Ubuntu).
