Windows 10: "Install server not responding" msg when I try to Uninstall or Install SW

Hi, I hope someone can help with this problem. When I try to uninstall Webex or try to install TurboTax, I get the popup message of: "Install server not responding" with the options of "try again" or "cancel" - I have a Lenovo IdeaPad L340 with 8GB of memory, but typically only 2GB is free to run stuff. - It was originally Windows 10, but then it got automatically upgraded Windows 11. - It now says it has: Windows 11 Home, Ver: 23H2, OS Build: 2631.4602 - Installed on: 5/24/2023 - I am running Norton 360 and Malwarebytes runtime anti-virus software. "Install server not responding" error in Windows Installer

Windows version: Windows 10 21H1 (OS build 19043.985)

Hi! I have a problem with Windows Installer when I try to install (or uninstall) any .msi file or any other program that uses Windows Installer for the installation process. I keep getting either "Install server not responding" or "Installer is no longer responding" errors. Clicking retry just gives the same error a couple of seconds later. For reference, I was trying to install Microsoft's PowerToys and ProtonVPN, and I've tried to uninstall some other programs.

Things I've tried up to now:

• restarting the Windows Installer service (msiserver) in Task Manager
• unregistering and reregistering the Installer service through CMD
• running Microsoft's Program Install and Uninstall troubleshooter
• running System File Checker

I get the same errors for both uninstalling and installing. I can uninstall a program using the aformentioned Program Install and Uninstall troubleshooter, but I'd have to run it for every uninstall which uses Windows Installer, and it doesn't help with installing something.

How do you uninstall chipset drivers?

I'm installing a new mobo so I need to uninstall the intel 865g drivers to make way for the P35 drivers.

Can't find any uninstall options in add/remove programs and intel chipset inst listed in driver cleaner.

Any suggestions? *Confused

 

Windows Installer doesn't install or uninstall

Ive read the sections related to my problem, but unfortunately didn't solve my problem

i want to be sure that i explained the full idea so ill explain the problem in another way:

Installing:

• i run an msi installation
• next next next...
• now "Instlaling" (where installer must request admin rights)
• then... nothing, just dsnt do anything

i cant close or do anything, it closes after a long time with a msg says installer stopped responding so it'll close

Uninstalling:

• enter CP > Programs and Features
• click on something to uninstall
• next next....
• "uninstalling"...

then like installing, nothing happens and doesn't close without that same message of installing case
