Windows 10: Install Ethernet to USB adaptor driver on Dell - Inspiron 7415 2-in-1

My laptop does not have Ethernet port. Hence, I had to buy Ethernet to USB adaptor so that I can connect via ethernet to my router. However, I am unable to install the drivers for the same and use ethernet. I downloaded similar drivers from Dell website. But no help. Hence, could anyone help me here.

What do you mean that there there are several "adaptors from the manufacturer" compatible with Windows 10 OS?

Are you suggesting that I order a USB 3.0 ---> Ethernet 1gbs adaptor from DELL?

I did go on to Dell's sales and IT support site with this issue. The IT specialist recommended Belkin model for the Dell Inspiron 13 i7359-8408SLV Sig Ed. I read the reviews as you suggested, which were rather mixed, and did not mention signature edition
compatibility.

Before I purchase the Dell signature edition from the MS store, it makes more sense to me to order a
Microsoft USB 3.0---> Ethernet 1 gbs capable adaptor. I would think that a MICROSOFT adaptor would have NO PROBLEMS with Windows 10 OS compatibility. Do you agree?

I'd rather NOT have to go through a driver download protocol as you described above.

Would you therefore kindly recommend a specific MS adaptor that would work with the Dell signature edition I intend to purchase?


Ideally this would be a "plug-play" device most compatible with MS Windows 10 OS and not require additional driver download steps.

I am considering purchase of Dell Inspiron 13 i7359-8408SLV Sig Ed. The 2-1 has no Ethernet port, but does have 3.0 USB ports. I will need to be connected 1gbs flat cable while working at some locations.

Any recommendations for windows 10-compatible usb 3.0--> 1000 LAN (1 gbs) Ethernet adaptor? I would like to purchase the adaptor online with my Dell order through Microsoft store.

Dell laptop Inspiron and Realtek USB Ethernet Adapter suddently disconnected

Few months ago, I had changed my internet connection from build-in wifi to ethernet USB adapter, the ethernet connection allways suddently disconnected when I connected to internet. I checked it was not related to AntiVirus software.

Devices:

Dell laptop Inspiron

WavLink USB 3.0 ethernet hub (realtek chips)

Finally, I find that USB ethernet adapter had insufficient power input.

Since I had adjusted the setting as followings:

1) make sure power adapter is connected

2) adjust the driver properties (closed the option "Selective suspend" & "power save mode to ethernet"

The problem was fixed.
