Windows 10: In Windows file explorer, how to sort by date created?

Hi all, I am trying to download photos to my external hard drive using my Windows laptop and when I click sort by, the only option is "Date modified". How do I sort my photos according to "Date created" or "Date taken"? When I click on details, the date created shows up but I am unable to list them according to this, only date modified, which is the date I downloaded them from iCloud and is not helpful at all as everything gets jumbled up. Sort by date added to folder

Hi there, thanks for your question.

In File Explorer, all sorting options can be viewed by following these steps:

- Open the folder and right click inside of it, not on a file.

- Go to Sort by > More.

This brings up a list of all possibilities of what to sort by. It doesn't look like there's an options for "date added to folder", but one of the other Date options may help, such as Date Created. You could create a copy of the file and move it in, so that
the date created matches the date added to the folder?

Windows 10 file explorer does not sort the songs by its release dates.

Thanks Krishna; I will trot that info over to the Win 10 action crowd. I just wondered if any under answers.MS.com would know such things. Explorer does have the option down in the "more" options of opting for a "Date Created" or "Date Released." In Explorer
"Date Released" comes up blank; "Date Created" is the date the file shows up in a folder the media is copied to that folder.

These sort options take place in a folder recognized by Windows that it is a media content folder.

Sorting with File Explorer.

I tried the method that was complicated (3rd option) but fell over in second step as I could not find any "apply to folder button"'.

However, the simple put *.* in search bar, then sort results windows by date does the trick. It is slightly cumbersome as I have to do that each time I am selecting files (to upload to sharepoint) but a lot less hassle than I was having to scroll up and down between sorted file block and sorted folder block.
