Windows 10: I'm tweaking my Windows profile, and now a lot of services seem to be broken

I was trying to switch from my school account, which logs in through Entra, to a local account. First, I signed out, but then I lost access to my profile. I tried several fixes, like editing the ProfileList in the registry and using the User Profile Wizard. At one point, my profile even got locked with a password that didn’t exist, but luckily I was able to get back to the desktop using a system restore point.After that, I tried logging in with my school account again, and while it brought my profile back, it split into two folders under C:/Users. I copied files from one folder to my main prof

Hello,

When attempting to login to my computer, I get the following message:

"The User Profile Service service failed the sign-in.

User profile cannot be loaded."

I referred to this Help article,You receive a "The User Profile Service failed the logon” error
message,

but the only difference is I only have one user profile on this computer. So, I can't login with another user to go through the steps listed in this post.

Any suggestions?

I am using registry editor from command prompt. Drilled down to c:windows\system32\config inside the Load Hive dialog window. Have selected (checked box) the SAM file; clicking on Open opens error message that says:


SAM
This file is in use.
Enter a new name or close the file that's open in another program.

I am at a loss, since I am not running any other program!

Any suggestions?

The SAM file is listed as being 64KB file size.

 

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx
