  1. I'm not able to open the prefetch folder

I had heard once that deleting prefetch files will reduce my system's boot up time so I used to delete it on a regular basis. But recently, I found out that this not true and that the opposite of it is true. Prefetch files help in reducing the system's boot up time. So I have stopped deleting those files. However, now when I try to open the prefetch folder by pressing Win key + R and typing "Prefetch", the folder does not open. How do I solve this?

    :)

  2. I can not open prefetch

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand the difficulties you are facing in accessing the folders on your PC.
In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below:

    • What is the Windows 10 Version and Build currently installed? (Type
      winver in Windows search/Run command)
    • Are you logged in to the PC using Administrator account?
    • Are you aware of any changes on the PC prior to this issue?

Meanwhile, we would suggest you to perform these methods and check if that helps.

Method 1: Permission to the folder

    1. Open File Explorer and go to
      c:/windows
      .
    2. Right-click on the Prefetch folder which you’re unable to access and select
      Properties.
    3. Click on Security tab from the top and under
Group or user names click on Edit.
    4. Now click on Add and type
      everyone.
    5. Click on Check names and click
      OK.
    6. Select everyone and under
      Allow select Full control.
    7. Click on Apply and Ok.

Also refer the suggestion as mention in this article for Windows 8, as it holds good for Windows 10:

"Access Denied" or other errors when you access or work with files and folders in Windows

  3. I am not able to open favorites folder or sub folders under it in EDGE browser

    Hi Rodney,

We appreciate you for being a part of Windows 10.

Before proceeding, we need more information to help you better.

    • Did you checked whether you are able to see the favorite’s folder under your users?

    • Are you able to see the Favorites bar on EDGE browser?

    • Does the EDGE browser close/crashes only when you try to open the favorites folder or any other scenarios?
Note: By default the favorite’s folder will be present under your user’s folder. Follow the below steps to check if you are able to view the favorites.

    • Open the ‘C’ drive on your computer. If your OS is installed on any other drive, open that one.
    • Under the ‘Users’ section, locate the name of your system’s main admin account and open its folder.
    • Locate the folder named ‘favorites’ and open it. In short, the path for this folder becomes as follows (assuming the system drive to be ‘C’ and your account name to be ‘Hamza’).

      C:\users\hamza\favorites\
I suggest you to refer to the section Import favorites in the below link on how to Import favorites in Internet Explorer.

Use favorites to save websites you like

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/add-view-organize-favorites#ie=ie-11

Note: You may try to browse to the favorite’s folder as suggested in the above steps if the favorite’s folder is present.

Kindly let us know if you need any further assistance with Windows. We are glad to assist you.

    Thank you.

  4. I'm not able to open the prefetch folder

I am not able to open favorites folder or sub folders under it in EDGE browser

    Hi Rodney,

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to you.

Kindly follow the below steps to navigate the Microsoft EDGE browser’s favorites folder location.

    • Open Windows File Explorer and navigate to the following path: (Press
Windows + E keys on the keyboard to open File Explorer)

      C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\AC\MicrosoftEdge\User\Default

Note: username represent the user account name which you have currently signed in to the Windows 10.

    • Here you will be able to locate the EDGE browser’s Favorites folder location.

    • Check whether you are able to locate the favorites which you have created in EDGE browser.
Note: To back up your favorites in Edge browser, simply copy-paste this Favorites folder to a safe location. To restore favorites, copy and paste your Favorites folder back in the location suggested under
    the step 1.

I hope the above information helps you to locate the EDGE browser’s favorites folder location.

    Thank you.
