Windows 10: Idle RAM Usage reaches 80%

When I cold boot my laptop, everything is well and fine. A smooth functioning laptop with 10-15% idle RAM usage.

But on having used it for around half a day while frequently letting it sleep. The idle ram usage turns up to 80% for no reason at all!
I thought it was the sleep or the hibernation pages(thats on old thing now I guess?) so i disabled auto sleep and let the laptop be awake for an entire day. Still I had 75% ram usage at the end of the day with no tasks running whatsoever. Its definitely something related to caching because when I dont use it at all and leave it turned on, the same thing doesnt really happen.

I have an 8gig laptop I use for only browsing. I know chrome can be an ass sometimes and hog up on all of the RAM but even with Chrome killed the idle RAM usage turns to 6-7gig leaving me with onle half a gig considering the VRAM uses 512mb

Constant 100% Disk Usage, 60-80% CPU usage. Both happen when idle.


Could you also provide a snapshot of Resource Monitor with selected Disk Activity Tab and checked only System:

i would also suggest running checkdisk and sfc /scannow

 

RAM usage too high in idle ?


Hi all, have this problem for a while now. I have 16GB of ram and usage is extremely high while PC is in idle. 99% ram usage and 70-80% quite often.When i start the computer it's fine and then it starts slowly to increase to as i said 70-80 and finally 99%. Computer doesn't lag or lacks of performance even when 99% of the ram is used ?! If you know how to fix that s..t pls aa and that happens in win 10 and win 7 also*Sad
I checked task manager to see which process uses that much memory but nothing appeared to be out of order. Could it be some kind of virus ?

 

Idle ram usage at around 8GB!

ive seen similair threads, and have tweaked the registry values in similair youtube videos.

just from a normal startup I peak at around 60% used ram out 16 gb installed ( 10ish gb).

most of the ram is being used by system prcesses mostly reading anywhere from.1-.2 % for each process. I am very confused what is causing this and would like to know if anyone else has seen an issue like this?

after registry tweaks dont aolve, is my next step to reinstall windows? Is adding more ram viable instead? Thanks for taking the time everyone

TLDR: machine idles at 8gb ram usage before and after registry tweaks, whats is my next step in diagnosing the cause?
