Ethernet plugged in, not working, troubleshooter detected no hardware

Hello, I am having trouble getting my internet connection to work with an ethernet cord. I have no problem using wifi, but i get disconnected on wifi pretty frequently. I have two ethernet cords in my possession, one of them is new, and neither works. I've tried connecting to the router and the modem.
I've used used troubleshooter with both wires while plugged into the router and the modem. I've created a connection that has our given username and our password in it.
I turn off the wifi specifically by clicking on the wifi icon on the bottom right of my computer screen. It seems that the ethernet cord is not detected.

Does anyone have any possible next steps for when troubleshooters don't work?

  3. Cellular Connection not working while Ethernet cord is plugged in.

As shown below I have two networks. One one the left is cellular connection to the left, that gets me out to the internet. The one on the right is a closed network. It does not have access to the internet, only IP devices. And the closed network is a
point to point connection with no gateway.

Problem: Cellular connection works fine, gets me to the internet until I plug in the Ethernet cord. As soon as plug in the Ethernet cord, Windows is trying to send all my internet traffic out the Ethernet port, but of course it is a closed network with
no access to the Internet. Basically it does not allow me to get to the internet unless I unplug the Ethernet cord.

I have tried changing the interface metrics, but that seems to do nothing at all. I was thinking about using the route command to add static routes, but the Point to Point Ethernet connection has no gateway because it is a point to point connection.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
