Windows 10: I have HP 17-cp3277ng Notebook type-c port is not extending the display

I have HP 17-cp3277ng Notebook, I want to connect external display with type-c, but the display is not working neither it is showed connect with external display nor the extended option is coming. Whereas, the display conection is tested with other laptop of dell precision 7560. What solution do we have?

Powering a second monitor with a HP 17 Laptop

I looked up the specs of your HP model. You have a SuperSpeed USB Type-C:registered: 5Gbps signaling rate. This type of USB-c is more for data transfer, it is not for video signal or power charging. I am afraid you need a monitor that has HDMI port in this case because the video output for your model is using the HDMI port.

How to extend C partition

Thank you for the information provided.

Please to inform you that you need to have an “unallocated disk space” to the right of the Partition\Volume you wish to extend on the same drive. Only when “unallocated disk space” is available “extend” option is highlighted.

I suggest you to try these steps and check if they helps.

Step1: Press Windows + R and Diskmgmt.msc and try the following

a. Right click the basic volume want to extend.

b. Click extend volume.

c. Follow the instruction on the screen.

Step2: Open a command prompt and type diskpart.

At the DISKPART prompt, type list volume. Make note of the basic volume you want to extend.

At the DISKPART prompt, type select volume <volumenumber>. This selects the basic volume volumenumber that you want to extend into contiguous, empty space on the same disk.

At the DISKPART prompt, type extend [size=<size>]. This extends the selected volume by size megabytes (MB).
