online or off, totally random and would not be able to reconnect for hours or days. Once disconnected, it would not show me any available networks. Yet my ancient laptop with Windows 7 which I am using right now, connects easily as does my phone and my visitors' laptops. Troubleshooting gives always the same result, connect with an ethernet cable. But the modem is upstairs in my landlady's house and I rent downstairs. But the modem is not the problem. This time it is almost 2 weeks and cannot connect on my newer laptop. So far I have: Undone most recent window updates I think this all sta

Certainly not, I seldom suggest factory reset (reinstalls old version with useless manufacturer apps).

3 years old is very Young, i own pc 10 years old running perfectly well

That's laughable. I'd expect 20% off the day it was removed from the box and 10% depreciation each year. The lease company is trying to fleece you because they know the old laptops are gonna go to auction and fetch far, far less.

For a 3 year old laptop at £3000 new I'd expect to pay less than £1700.
