Windows 10: I have accidentally created a file con.* that I cannot delete

I have accidentally created a file con.* I cannot change name or delete in Windows as response is "invalid file handle" Also cannot delete in C Prompt. File is listed in Directory in C prompt so I know it is there, but cannot delete even as Administrator as response is "The system cannot find the file specified." How can I delete this file?There are unusual properties to the file. 1. In Windows and C Dir list the size is 40K, but when looking at the properties in Windows the size is 0 bytes.2. There are no dates for Created,Modified or Accessed.3. Under Attributes Read-only and Hidden are NO

Hi @Kari,

I suggest you add an optional final step to remove the drive letter (R in your case) so Macrium Partition is hidden from File Explorer, minimising risk of accidental overwriting or file deletion.

As a second observation, the tutorial you have created works for Windows 10 installers as well - maybe you would like to add a comment on that as well, or copy and make a second tutorial?

While uninstalling a program, I might have accidentally deleted some other windows system file too.

-> It is not possible to delete Windows system files "accidentally". Windows won't let you. You must take several steps before you can do this. Uninstalling does not even give you the option to delete any files. The
process is fully automatic.

The question now is: How exactly did you perform this uninstallation process? Which files or folders did you delete?

About drive letter X: - you are in Windows Repair Mode. Drive X: is a virtual drive that disappears the moment you leave this mode.

 

Printer accidentally deleted

I accidentally deleted my printer on hp laptop windows 10 and now it does not show up in the list of printers to reconnect
