I have a G:\ drive that only shows up in Windows 10 file explorer if I type in G:\. It displays the same drive name as my system drive C: but shows no files and won't let me write to it.I can go into Disk Manager or a Command Window and assign G: to a drive or subst it and it works just fine in both, but in File Explorer it is still not displayed as part of This PC and typing G: in still takes me back to the system drive. The only possibly odd thing I found for G: in the registry was in Local Software under a "LastUsedSource" key from Adobe CS4, where it was part of a path name. Duplicated drive letter in File Explorer

I have a 64-bit notebook with Windows 10 Pro. Attached is a USB Seagate external drive that is partitioned into drives F: and G: When I open File Explorer it shows New Volume (FI have a G:\ drive that shows differently in file explorer than it does in Command Window... :) as it should, but G: shows as Drive G: (GI have a G:\ drive that shows differently in file explorer than it does in Command Window... :) for some reason. I click on
Rename for drive G, but all it shows in the Window is Drive G: without the (GI have a G:\ drive that shows differently in file explorer than it does in Command Window... :) after it. I rename it anyway in hopes it would remove that (GI have a G:\ drive that shows differently in file explorer than it does in Command Window... :) but it did not.

I have searched extensively on the 'Net for an answer, but they all seem to address situations where the drive letters appear in two different places in the list (one higher, and another lower down in File Explorer).

    Any ideas?

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
