Windows 10: I got a brown box icon of my files in dropbox - Windows 11

Hi,After I got a new laptop and installed that with Windows 11, I got this brown box icon on my files in Dropbox. I didn't have this on my previous laptop with the same set up.I use Onedrive for work document and Dropbox for image backup and private thing.I have read some other treads that this is a Onedrive icon and nothing to do with Dropbox.https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/i-also-got-this-brown-box-icon-of-my-files-in/b440a1c2-6a47-4f8f-ab42-44ed9a59d1d4I can confirm that both Onedrive and Dropbox is logged in correctly and reports no error.Only files in Dropbox have th

If you have multiple sync apps installed, you may always have the ugly brown icon, even when signed in.

I have this problem too and can't find a solution.

I don't know if this will be helpful, but I went to go click on the right-click the dropbox icon in the system tray to check my sync settings, and the icon wasn't there. I realized that dropbox wasn't "running". I started up dropbox, and once it started running, the brown box was replaced by the appropriate dropbox sync icon (grey cloud, closed green circle+white check, open green circle+green check), and I was able to access those files again. I hope this works for you and everyone else who is having this issue because it was driving me crazy that there were absolutely no posted resolutions to the issue anywhere online.

This is EXACTLY what the problem is. It's a Dropbox issue, as far as it seems. Once I fired up Dropbox, my ugly brown file box overlay disappeared and was replaced with a cloud. All of my files can now be opened just fine.

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

That brown box icon overlay is caused by OneDrive, it indicates those files were synced to OneDrive and that OneDrive is not currently logged in and the files cannot sync.

You indicate you use DropBox, do you also use OneDrive on your PC, or did you download your files from OneDrive before enabling DropBox?
