Windows 10: I found solution to Touchpad not working while using keyboard

Go to Control Panel then go to Hardware and sound then select Mouse right side below devices and printers and then go to advanced on the upper right side and click advance feature settings, then look for Operations during key input and there should be two checked boxes, number 1 is disable pointer movement and 2 is Disable scroll function. Now you just need to uncheck that boxes and click apply. Now your problem and my problem is solved

laptop keyboard and touchpad not working

Problem: computer starts up normally and goes to the password log-in screen, but nothing happens when I try to enter the password. The computer doesn't appear to see any keystrokes.
Solutions tried:

1. rebooted
2. removed and replaced main battery
3. attached USB keyboard
4. hit Enter key on startup: successful in opening the Advance Options menu, but am unable to take any of the actions because all require that I enter the laptop password
5. looked for an onscreen keyboard, but there isn't one because this isn't a touch screen computer

Why I think this is a Windows issue:

1. the computer recognizes when I hit the Enter key on startup
2. the USB keyboard doesn’t work
3. the keyboard touchpad doesn’t work, but the attached USB mouse DOES work

 

Keyboard AND Touchpad not Working

A few days ago, while I was just surfing on firefox, I lost keyboard and touchpad functionality on my Lenovo Z575 Ideapad. Initially, I thought the computer froze so I shut it down hard way. When I restarted the laptop, I still had no keyboard or touchpad
functionailty.



I have tried many solutions I have seen online including:

1. Updating and uninstalling the relevant drivers in Device Manager
2. Tried a system restore
3. Did a system reset
4. Opened up the laptop itself and took out and reattached the keyboard to the motherboard.

Strangely enough, the keyboard seems to work in the bios and occasionally I may be able to Fn+F2 (black out screen) or Fn+up (adjust screen brightness) on startup, but Both it and the touchpad do not work and my suspicions are that it is a software issue
related to Windows 10 itself.



Has anyone experienced a similar issue like this and solved it. If so, please share. Thanks

Method 1: Run Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter

Follow these steps to run Hardware and Devices troubleshooter:

  Press Windows key + W and type
  troubleshooting.
  
• 
  Select Troubleshooting.
  
• 
  Select View all on the top left corner.
  
• 
  Click Hardware and Devices.
  
• 
  Follow the on-screen instruction to run the troubleshooter.
  

Method 2: Uninstall and reinstall the driver

I suggest you to try uninstall the Touchpad and Keyboard drivers check if it works for you.

Follow the steps to uninstall the Touchpad and Keyboard drivers:

• 
  Press Windows Key + X key and click
  Device Manager.
  
• 
  Right-click on the Touchpad device listed and click on ‘Uninstall’.
  
• 
  Select the option to Delete driver software.
  
• 
  Follow the same steps to uninstall keyboard driver.
  
• 
  Restart the computer after its uninstalled.
  

Try to access the device manufacturer's website and download and install the latest chipset, touchpad and keyboard drivers.
