Multimodal Visual Search available in Chat and Bing Chat Enterprise

This has been a big week! On Tuesday, we announced the availability of Bing Chat Enterprise and multimodal Visual Search in Chat. Both experiences are available now.

Here are a few more details on each:

Visual Search in Chat: This feature leverages OpenAI’s GPT-4 model to let you provide images—a picture you’ve taken or one you’ve found elsewhere—and prompt Bing Chat with related questions. Bing Chat can understand the context of an image, interpret it, and answer questions about it.

Use Visual Search to ask Bing Chat about the architecture of a building you’ve taken a picture of or take a picture of the contents of your fridge and ask for lunch ideas.

Visual Search in Chat is now accessible from Bing.com on the desktop, the Bing mobile app, and in Edge Sidebar. It will also be available soon in Edge Mobile and come to Bing Chat Enterprise in the future.

Bing Chat Enterprise: After releasing Bing Chat in February, we heard from many of you who also want to use Bing Chat at work—while being assured that your organization’s sensitive data will remain protected. Yesterday we announced the release of Bing Chat Enterprise, which offers designed to address those needs.

Bing Chat Enterprise is now available at no additional cost for commercial customers licensed for Microsoft 365 E3, E5, Business Standard and Business Premium. If you’re an IT admin with eligible licenses and you want to enable Bing Chat Enterprise for your organization, you can find instructions for how to do so here. Once enabled, your employees can access it from bing.com/chat or Edge sidebar using their Azure Active Directory account.

We’re excited to see what you will do with it! Ask Bing Chat Enterprise “What are the top 5 things I should know when managing a large project?” or “What is agile project management and how does it differ from waterfall?”

New LaTeX Support in Bing Chat

Last week, we announced updates to SwiftKey and other mobile apps that bring Bing chat to your fingertips in ways that improve your productivity. We’re also excited about yesterday’s announcement that Copilot is coming to Microsoft Viva.

Here’s a summary of what else has changed in Bing chat since our April 7 update:

LaTeX Support: We shipped support for LaTeX markup—allowing Bing chat to correctly display complex mathematical expressions. This makes Bing chat an even more useful tool for learning math concepts or writing technical research papers.

Reducing End-of-conversation Triggers: We’ve heard your feedback that messages would sometimes trigger Bing to unnecessarily end conversations (e.g. “I’m sorry but I prefer not to continue this conversation.” or “It might be time to move on to a new topic.”). This should now occur less frequently than before, and we’re continuing to investigate cases where this happens.

News Grounding: We’ve taken steps to help Bing give better answers if you’re asking questions about news (e.g. “What are today’s top breaking news stories?”). Expect us to make further grounding improvements based on your feedback.

Additionally, we fixed some known bugs—including:

Reducing instances where Bing chat triggered unnecessary duplicative searches.

Minimizing errors that led to Bing chat returning no response to queries.

Bing Chat Mobile Improvements and Sports Grounding

This has been an exciting week! At Build 2023, we announced we’re bringing Bing to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, giving it a world-class search engine to provide timelier and more up-to-date answers with access from the web. That new experience is currently rolling out to ChatGPT Plus subscribers and will be available to free users soon by enabling the Bing plugin. We also announced a shared plugin platform between ChatGPT and Bing Chat—along with several new partners.

We revealed Windows Copilot, which will bring the power of Bing Chat directly into Windows 11.

On top of these new experiences, we’re excited to share that more of our previously announced mobile features across Bing and SwiftKey are now fully available to all users:

Bing Chat widget in Android: We’ve launched a new Bing Chat widget you can add to your Android Home screen. Once installed, selecting the Bing icon will take you directly to chat.

Compose messages in SwiftKey: We released a new Compose feature in SwiftKey that works similarly to Compose in Edge sidebar—it generates text for you based on your selected parameters, including subject, message tone, format, and length. For example, you can use it to quickly help you write an email to a service provider asking for a resolution on an issue. Then you can quickly edit your drafted mail and send it.

New tones in SwiftKey compose: We also now support two new tones: Witty and Funny.

Translator in SwiftKey on iOS: We released an AI-powered translator to the SwiftKey keyboard that supports all Bing Chat languages. Translator has already been shipped on Android and is now available on iOS this week.

Sports Grounding: We’ve taken steps to help Bing Chat give better answers if you're asking questions about sports topics—including games, schedules, stats, and standings across a variety of sports.

Love baseball? Ask Bing Chat “What MLB games ended today and what were the scores?” or “What are the stats from the latest Seattle Mariners game?” If you’re a cricket fan, ask Bing Chat “What’s the upcoming test match schedule between England and Australia?” or “Show me the Indian Premier League scores for 2023 in table format."
