Dear Microsoft Support,I am experiencing an issue with Windows Update on my PC running Windows 11 Version 24H2. The updates are stuck at "Downloading - 0%" and are not progressing. I have tried multiple troubleshooting steps, but the issue persists. Below are the details of my system and the troubleshooting steps I have already attempted.System Information:Windows Version: Windows 11 Version 24H2Device Manufacturer: HPIssue Description:When I go to Settings > Windows Update, I see the following updates pending:2025-02 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Syste

Optional drivers show but I'm unable to download optional updates.

It might work the other way too. If you grab the latest ones from HP... the ones WU finds might just go away. WU is a bit weird. Here's a story... I can DL updates from WU or thru WAU Manager. If I install the updates thru WAU Manager... they are still listed in WU. I just click: download & install... and they just disappear. Here's another story... You can "hide" updates with WAU Manager. So just grab that, install it, set it up like the pic below, and click: Update Windows Now You'll get a list of available updates with check boxes. Just highlight any of them and click: Hide Update That not only hides it for WAU Manager, but for WU too. Don't worry about the scheduling... I don't think it works anyway. *Smile

Step 1: As you are using Wi-Fi connection, do let us know if you have turned on metered connection.

Steps to Turn off metered Wi-Fi network connection:

• Click on Start > Settings > Network & Internet.
• Select WiFi > Advanced options > Set as metered connection.
• Turn off the option and check if you are able to install the updates.

Step 2: I suggest you to disable/ uninstall the anti-virus software installed on your device and check for the updates.

Step 3: If not yet tried,
I suggest you to run the Windows Update troubleshooter and check
for the updates.

Windows Update Troubleshooter resolves problems that prevents you from updating windows.

Steps:

• Press Windows key and type
  Troubleshooting.
• Click on Troubleshooting and click on
  View all in the left pane.
• Select Windows Update to run theWindows Update Troubleshooter
  and follow the on-screen instructions.

Unable to download and install updates on Windows 10

I understand your concern about installing the updates on your device, we will help you with this issue.

Do let us know the following details to assist you better with this issue:

• Were you able to see any error code/ error message when the updates fails to install?
• Is this issue confined only with downloading and installing the update or you are unable to download anything?

If the issue is with downloading/ installing the updates, this might have occurred because of corrupted/ missing Windows Update components.

Try few of the below troubleshooting steps and check if it helps.

If you are using wired internet connection, I suggest you to switch to wired connection (Connected the internet cable to your device) and try if you are able to run the Windows Update.

Method 1: I suggest you to disable third party security software (if any installed), and check for Windows Updates.

NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software,
you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 2: I suggest you to
run the Windows Update troubleshooter and check if you are able to install the updates.

Steps:

• 
  Press Windows + X, click on
  Control Panel, select Category and then select
  Large or Small icons.
  
• 
  Click on Troubleshooting
  and click on View all in the left pane.
