After bootrec /rebuildbcd and bcdedit /export C:\boot\bcd-h-r-s file not found!

You exported the BCD store to c:\boot? Hopefully you did not add the space after boot and did add a space after bcd.

It really should be an attrib command such attrib -h -r -s c:\boot\bcd

    ATTRIB [+R | -R] [+A | -A ] [+S | -S] [+H | -H] [+I | -I]

    [drive:][path][filename] [/S [/D] [/L]]

You are trying to change the permissions on a file so you can copy it elsewhere.. Is your system not booting?

If you look at Disk Management, which partition shows as "System" because that is where the boot files are.

If you just type bcdedit do you get a short listing of the BCD store?

How can I stop files hidden using `attrib +h +s somedir` from showing in searches?

    Combine these two processes:

    1. Un-index the folder from windows search as follows:
      Go to start button
      Search for 'indexing options'
Click the modify button and uncheck the folder you don't want to have searched and save your changes.
    2. Hide the folder by creating 2 .bat files within your folder as follows...

    Create your .bat files

    Save this file as hide.bat

    Save this file as show.bat

Click on the hide.bat file to hide all the files in mySecretFolder

To show the files again, click on the show.bat file.

Make sure you change E:\mySecretFolder to your desired path.

Once the parent folder is hidden, the only way to access it is through the folder path atop your explorer window or through the commandline. cd into it and type explorer .

    I accidently used attrib -s -h -r /s /d *.* in cmd

Robocopy script no longer works after Windows 10 upgrade

I also thought Robocopy wasn't working! What seems to be happening that Robocopy is hiding folders.

I have just completed a mammoth Robocopy session that took 24 hours and copied 5 tb of data. But when I looked at the backup disks (I'm using the new Storage Spaces facilities in Windows 10) there were no folders listed. Since I was expecting 4 top-level
folders, I simply ran these commands in a Cmd window:

    attrib -r -s -h j:\drived /s /d

    attrib -r -s -h j:\drivee /s /d

    attrib -r -s -h j:\drivef /s /d

    attrib -r -s -h j:\drivex /s /d

This has now allowed me to see everything on Drive J.
