  1. How to use a program with dedicated graphic card in Windows Sandbox

Hi,I was trying to run programs on Windows Sandbox with my laptop GPU RTX 3080Ti, but all of them ended up using Intel integrated graphics instead.I tried to change the GPU preference for Windows Sandbox itself in the graphics settings to high performance, but whatever program that runs in the sandbox, for instance video playback, still gets run on Intel integrated graphics. dxdiag on Windows Sandbox shows both integrated GPU and the RTX 3080Ti as Render 1 and Render 2, so I'm guessing this is not a driver issue?Any solutions to this?

    :)

Thank you for following up. For better assistance on switchable graphics and dedicated graphics, we would suggest that you contact the manufacturer of your graphics card.

    graphics card problems

    Hi,

Your computer makes a noise or beeps from your internal speaker because it failed to detect the graphics card. What we can suggest is for you to try cleaning your graphics card with a pencil eraser. Here are the steps below:

    • Turn your computer off.
    • Pull out your video/graphics card.
    • Rubbed the cold contacts with soft pencil eraser.
    • Connect your video/graphics card back to the computer.
Kindly note that this is just a temporary fix. If the case still continues, I suggest that you contact your graphics card's manufacturer.

Let us know how it goes.

  4. How to use a program with dedicated graphic card in Windows Sandbox

Gaming laptop is largely ignoring my dedicated graphics card, and instead mostly just using the integrated graphics card.

Hello! So this is a somewhat recent, and very frustrating, occurrence. My laptop is a MSI Pulse GL66 with Intel(R) UHD Graphics as the integrated graphics card, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 as the dedicated graphics card. For some reason, I've noticed my performance on games that require good graphics (like, Hogwarts Legacy for example) has been seriously impaired. Task Manager says that these games are running mainly with the integrated card for some reason, like 95-100% integrated, 0-5% dedicated. Obviously, the performance suffers significantly when this happens - I'd like to be able to use my gaming laptop for gaming again!

What I Have Tried and More Information

    • Computer is fully updated to Windows 10
    • All drivers have been disabled/enabled, uninstalled/reinstalled, updated to latest versions. For Nvidia I made sure to do clean installs.
    • If I disable the integrated graphics card, the game often just does not even use the dedicated graphics card instead and then loads and is unplayable, or just crashes.
    • I have tried using the Nvidia control panel "Manage 3D settings" feature, both global and program settings, this has done nothing.
    • I have tried using the Microsoft graphics settings, "Graphics performance preference", and then set the preferred dedicated graphics card to each of my games. This has done nothing.
    • I even went into Bios but could not find much regarding the graphics cards.
    • I have tried turning up the graphics in-game to "high" or "ultra" to try to force the computer to switch to the dedicated card - this has just decreased my performance even more.
    • I have tried adjusting power/battery settings to maximize performance over battery life - still does not seem to make a difference.
    • For some reason, programs like discord use the dedicated graphics card?
Should I just take my computer into a shop? I seriously am running out of ideas.

Thank you in advance for your time.
