How to stop touch keyboard from following cursor to non-touch secondary display in Windows 11

I want to stop the touch keyboard from following my cursor to a secondary non-touch display. This is the same issue identified in this thread: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/win10-touch-keyboard-keeps-appearing-on-second-non/29bfb5a7-9c1a-4209-894a-a0c18c2e2b2e?correlationid=991f8b6c-7017-4ae2-a9ab-63e383bd6288&from=ContactUsWebBCQR&page=2. The issue was not resolved and is still a problem in Windows 11. This seems like a bug that Windows must fix by having an option on the touch keyboard to pin it to one display. If there was indeed a fix implemented for th

Win10 touch keyboard keeps appearing on second non-touch monitor

Hi, I have just freshly installed Windows 10 (build 1607) and this problem still occurs.

I have a normal Dell monitor set up as my secondary monitor and a Wacom Cintiq 27QHD set up as my primary monitor (it is set as my primary and directly above my secondary Dell, both set to same resolution). Only the wacom is touch and pen enabled but the
touch keyboard often pops-up on my non touch Dell monitor. It does it very often. I think it is caused by having the 'live' browser window on the Dell when I press the keyboard button on my Wacom.

I have checked tablet settings and the wacom is set for both pen and touch and the Dell is set to neither (it is disabled as touch and pen which Windows detected itself), yet the touch keyboard still appears on the Dell, so IMO this is clearly a bug which
Windows has had for a long time.

    To reproduce:

    1. Start machine with one touch monitor (set as primary, mine is also set to extended and below) and a secondary non-touch monitor.

    2. Open browser window and move on to secondary non touch monitor. Also open a settings window (I think any window should work) on to the primary monitor.

    3. Use mouse to click on and select the settings window on primary monitor

    4. Use mouse to click on and select the browser window on secondary monitor

    5. Now press the touch keyboard icon in lower right of the primary monitor

Result: The keyboard pops-up on the secondary monitor despite Windows recognising it as a non touch enabled display.

Does anyone have a fix for this as it is infuriating and means I have to use mouse to drag the keyboard back down to my touch monitor or have to select a window on my primary and then close and open the keyboard (which doesn't always work...sometimes reapears
    on the secondary monitor).

Thanks for your time to read my woes!

    Hi,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft community.

A quick question before we proceed:

What is the KB number of the update you have installed?

To know the KB numbers of the failing updates, follow the below steps:

      • In the search box, type Update, and then, in the list of results, click Windows Update.
      • In the left pane, click View update history.

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it helps:

    Method 1:

I suggest you to follow the steps provided below to enable touch keyboard when there is no keyboard attached to the device.

    • Press the Windows key
      or click on Start icon.

    • Click on Settings.

    • Click on Devices.
    • Click on Typing.
    • Scroll down and toggle on: Automatically show the touch keyboard in windowed apps when there's no keyboard attached
      to your device.

    Method 2:

Follow the below steps and check if it helps.

    1. Right click on the Task bar and select Show Touch Keyboard Button.

    2. Open the Keyboard and close it (just to check if it’s working).

    2. Next click on Action center and select Tablet Mode.

    3. Once you are in Tablet mode, again Right click on the Task bar and select Show Touch Keyboard Button.

    5. Open the Key board and check if it’s working in Tablet mode. Next check if it’s available on the task bar in both desktop and tablet mode.

Hope this helps. If the issue remains unresolved, please get back to us and we would be happy to help.
