Windows 10: how to recover license after drive failure

One day my computer died. A long time technically proficient person, I tried everything to fix. Turned out to be a drive failure and UEFI issue of some sort. My relatively new pc has a TP card that may have corrupted. After reinstalling and reformatting the drive way too many times, I have it all up again. I do not have a license for the OS. It was upgraded several times from a license purchased many years ago. How do I recover that license?

I am planning to perform a factory reset on my laptop. I have a few concerns about my Windows license:

1. Will I be able to recover my Windows license after the factory reset?
   
2. Is there any specific step I need to take before performing the reset to ensure my license is retained?
   
3. How can I verify my Windows license information before the reset?

Does not work on a windows pc which is what the OP probably intended

windows by default does not have HFS and HFS+ based hard drives.
Able to perform retrieval on both HFS and HFS+ based hard drives. and so will not work with windows
