Windows 10: How to prevent users from adding networked printers with "Add device" in Printers & scanners

In our implementation of Windows 11 Pro using AzureAD/Entra ID, going to Settings>Bluetooth & devices>Printers & scanners>Add device finds a list of network printers. Currently, any standard user can add any of the printers and then print to it. How do I prevent standard users from adding these printers to their computers?

It can be networked through the computer through control panel settings<view installed printers<your printer< share this printer I think is simple way someone else correct me if I'm wrong. Once you do that try connecting on your other comps by adding printer over network.

Windows 10 recognizes my printer+scanner only as a printer.

Another method you may try is to uninstall and reinstall the printer. The following are the steps:



Remove your printer

• Select the Start button, then select Settings > Devices > Printers and Scanners.
• Under Printers & scanners, find the printer, select it, and then select Remove device.

Install or add a local printer

• Select the Start button, then select Settings > Devices > Printers and Scanners.
• Under Printers & Scanners, see if your printer is installed.
• If you don’t see your device, select Add a printer or scanner. Wait for it to find available printers, choose the one you want, and then select Add device.

On the other hand, we suggest also that you reach out the manufacturer of your printer/scanner for the driver availability or work around.
