Windows 10: How to PERMANENTLY disable Handsfree Telephony for a bluetooth device in Windows 11?

I need to disable Handsfree Telephony to make my Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones work in MS Teams as resolved in this thread.But, the setting keeps being enabled again - possibly during reboot or bluetooth re-connection.Is there a way to PERMANENTLY disable the setting for this device? Aside: I'm open to a fix in powershell if anyone knows the API calls for toggling the setting based on BT connection trigger.

I try to turn on handsfree-telephony at controlpanel>devices and printers but it doesn't work. It says: The parameter is wrong. Can anyone help me out?

Why does Focus Assist disable bluetooth handsfree service?

I was thrown down the bluetooth rabbit hole to fix a "phone can't connect to PC" issue where the culprit turned out to be the Focus Assist "feature" silently added to Windows some years ago. For reasons probably not even known to Bill Gates, the Focus Assist feature apparently disables the bluetooth handsfree service/module so the phone can't connect to the PC for calls (e.g. via the Phone Link app). All other bluetooth roles (headset/audio, HID, file transfer etc.) continue to work normally when Focus Assist is on, only the handsfree role (calls/SMS) is blocked, i.e. the phone can be successfully paired to the PC but can't connect for calls. As I understand, the Focus Assist feature only prevents notifications from popping up on the desktop - how on earth is it disabling the bluetooth handsfree role? Is that intended behavior and who can I disembowel for deciding that it was a good idea?
