    How to install Windows on a separate drive without deleting the information on the drive


    I was trying to migrate my OS to a different drive when my drive stopped booting. I have backups from when I cloned the data but the OS is not working properly. I’m currently running Windows to try and find a way to fix it on a different drive. Is there a way I can reinstall windows on the original drive without deleting everything? I would prefer to also keep the original settings, but I know that’s not always possible.

    cant install windows 8 on my cruciall ssd drive

    During the windows install process, when it asks you where you want to install Windows, delete all the partitions on the drive. It should leave you with one unallocated space. Select that to install Windows 8. Note, this will delete everything on the drive.

    Yeah, that was going to be my next suggestion. You can actually access the command prompt from inside the Windows installer, then run DiskPart and do a Clean command on the drive.
