Windows 10: How to increase recovery partition size

Hello! I’m a Window’s newbie and have found out that I need to increase the size of my recovery partition so I can install a Window’s security update that ends in “4441”. I would appreciate step by step instructions on how to accomplish this as I’m relatively new to the Windows platform, coming from years on the Mac OS platform. I’d like to avoid any issues like corruption of the drive as well. Thanks in advance!

Looks good.

The new recovery partition is dynamic and can increase or decrease in size (automatic failover).

The recovery tools should be in a separate partition than the Windows partition to support automatic failover and to support booting partitions encrypted with Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption.

We recommend that you place this partition immediately after the Windows partition. This allows Windows to modify and recreate the partition later if future updates require a larger recovery image.

Increasing Partition Size

You can't remove unallocated space, because it is, by definition, unallocated. Do what LX07 and Cereberus are suggesting and get the free Minitool. Download and install it, and someone here will walk you thru the few simple steps.

 

Can't increase recovery partition size

Hi,

I'm trying to increase the recovery partition size because of a failed update that requires the partition to be larger but after following the instructions I'm able to shrink the OS partition by the required 250mb, but when I delete and recreate the recovery partition, the partition remains the same size and doesn't use the unallocated space.

Any help please?
