Windows 10: How to get out of advanced start up menu and get my password back

My pc randomly force reset on me in the middle of playing games, it's been fine until now suddenly, it changed my password from a 4 digit code to a regular password and i have no idea what it is now.1. I tried to restart my pc twice but on the 2nd time it kept my pc stuck on the advanced startup menu so now i can't get out of the advanced startup menu. 2. Startup repair says "startup repair couldn't repair your pc" and just gives me the option of shutting down my pc or going back to advanced options, hard resetting obviously doesn't work, and i have no checkpoint saved. What do i do?

Windows 10 Start menu is empty

Hi. Steps 1 and 2 didn't do much but step 3 has restored what looks like the list of original Microsoft apps but no sign of any of the many apps I have installed. And there are no tiles in the start menu. Any suggestions please?

You can reset your password following the next steps:

• Reboot your computer / Turn your computer on.
• Hold down the Shift key at the start of the boot process to enable the GNU GRUB boot menu (if it does not show)
• Press ESC at the GNU GRUB prompt.
• Press e for edit.
• Use the Arrow keys to highlight the line that begins with kernel and press the e key.
• Go to the very end of the line and add rw init=/bin/bash
• Press Enter and then press b to boot your system.
• Your system will boot up to a passwordless root shell.
• Type in passwd yourusername
• Set your new password.
• Restart your system.
