Windows 10: how to fully deny access of local drive to specific users via drive security?

Hi,Iwan is here.I want to ensure that my kids are effectively prevented from accessing the contents of specified local physical drives e.g., D:, E: through system-level permissions on windows 11 24h2 26100.3775 build 26100.ge_release.240331-1435.So if a standard user e.g., nicole has been explicitly denied full access permissions to a specific local physical drive e.g., D: via the operating system's drive security settings, then nicole should be unable to browse the file system or open any files and folders located on that drive through any application. • Since when are you facing the issue?

Added family user the other day (who by the way don't appear in users list when accessing properties for the

folder{s} attempting to deny access}. Can't deny permissions without cutting all out (including me.)

2. Do you receive any error message?

No error message per say, just can't deny access to the folder There will be two users on the computer - me (also

the administrator) and the new family member addition.

3. Did you make any changes prior to the issue?

Added the user who does not appear as a user when accessing properties for folders, but can access the folders.

Sometimes this Windows 10can be a bear. I also have trouble accessing the computer as administrator only.

Can you help. Saw similar question that has not been answered.

Access denied for internal secondary drive

Hi All,

I have a laptop running windows 10. A few weeks ago it started coming up with an error message on startup about recycle bin is corrupt on D:\ (my secondary drive). I now get access denied whenever I try to open the files/folders on the drive and am losing
will to live as this drive has all of my work and family photo's etc... on.

• I have downloaded the take ownership tool and it is saying access denied.
• Tried changing the drive owner on security and it wont let me as it says access denied (current owner is listed as SYSTEM).
• Tried changing the security groups and privileges and it won't let me, access denied.
• Admin has full control privileges and so I enabled the windows admin account (net user administrator /active:yes) and logged in but that still says access denied. My account is also an admin account but still access denied.
• Tried switching onedrive off as heard that can cause an issue and no luck.
• Tried using local account rather than Microsoft account and still access denied.
• Tried a reset of the PC, still no luck

I really am at a loss now and don't really want to have to take it to a computer shop to get them to try and retrieve.

The laptop was originally on windows 7 but upgraded to windows 10 fine. I am struggling as cannot find any other solutions on the internet, anyone go any ideas.
