  1. How to force RDP to use UDP Windows 11?

I am working on optimizing my RDP connections.I want to force RDP to use UDP for most of the traffic. In gpedit.msc I have the override to "Use either UDP or TCP".When I Wireshark the traffic I only see TCP activity between the host and client.Thoughts to force Windows 11 RDP to actually use UDP?In theory, max LAN speed is 54 Mbps.

    :)

Can't get UDP to work with RDP 8.0 on Win7 client - Win10 Host

We (me and a fellow worker) have just started using remote desktop to work. I have been using NetSupport Manager for almost 10 years but just switched to Windows 10 on virtual PC at work and discovered that remote desktop performance with UDP is leaving NetSupport Manager in the dust, performance wise.

I have opened the UDP port for my PC and use in UDP mode since Friday. I just cloned the virtual PC for my fellow worker and adjusted his user. I connect to this PC and UDP is enabled. But he is on Windows 7 x64 and he is not able to obtain the UDP enabled.

Yes, he installed the updates for RDP 8.0 and it shows it.

But UDP is still not working.

I tried to update to RDP 8.1 but it says this:

Any idea ? I suggested to upgrade to Windows 10 but I would rather find a solution for Windows 7 since it is supposed to work.

  3. RDP not allowing remote connection

I had it working perfectly fine the other day but I logged into my server, removed a open port and both computer quit.

I run the computers with the firewall off, I see no point in them being on, it's a windows firewall a hacker will know how to get around so fire wall is OFF.

Ports are 9000 for server and 3390 for htpc

    ip:9000
    ip:3390

This does not work from a linux workstation using 'Remote Desktop Client'

It does not work from mac RDP
It does not work from windows RDP
And it does not work from my iphone.

I know it's enabled as I can RDP into the computers at my home (except htpc at the moment, I think that one needs restarted)

Ports are open, both tcp / udp ports are open using the internal server IP wich is MAC assigned by the router. Server - 10.0.1.2 - 9000
And same thing for the htpc - 10.0.1.8 - 3390

Besides the obvious of firewall, ports, and 'remote connection enabled' any ideas?

    • Any changes made on the computer prior to this concern?

Initially when we received the problem there wasn't any changes made on the computer since we couldn't figure out the problem, we upgraded the pc to windows 10. It fixed the problem momentarily and then it starts again. Then we re initiated the upgrade the
same day I wrote this post and it was fixed again and then on today the issue is back
    • What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

In the past we would delete the MS Licensing Protocol folder as suggested by so many other posts and restart the RDP connection ad administrator to rebuild it. This time around it didn't fix anything. Like I said previously we've tried to upgrade the PC and
      the fix is temporal
    • Is this the first time that you encountered this problem? No
    • When did you notice about this issue? I'm not sure when it started because I haven't been on this project that long but I would say within the last month based on me. Based on other conversations this has happened in the past.
    • Can you send us a screenshot with the error message that you are getting? Note: Please do not include any personal information.

      Sure
