Hello everyone ive been trying to fix this issue for a week now but I can't find any solution. I recently upgraded my HP laptop from and HDD to an SSD and am now trying to download Windows 8.1 from a USB. Then it gives me the error "We couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one. For more information, see the Setup log files" I tried the diskpart method but that didn't work either. SSD total size as showing in Windows Setup is 953.9GB. Please help me fix this issue my laptop specs are Intel Core i5-2430M and laptop model isHP G7 1270caPlease help me fix this I will forever be gra

Try this:

Before you get to that message, press SHIFT + F10 to open a command prompt.

Run diskpart.
At the diskpart prompt, run these commands:

list disk

At this point you should see the SSD as disk 0. If it has another disk number, use that number rather than "0" in the next command.

select disk 0
clean
exit (to exit from diskpart)
exit (to exit from the command prompt)





That should clear the contents of the disk. The entire disk space should then show up in Windows setup as "Unallocated Space" as in the screenshot below.
