Windows 10: How to fix my sound conundrum?

To cut short a long story, the sound and my microphone on my Windows 10 laptop suddenly stopped working. I've tried everything to fix it, just about and I've gotten nowhere. It's like it doesn't seem to pickup that it has speakers or a mic. No, it's not muted. Yes, I've tried restarting the computer, reinstalling the drivers, and troubleshooting. No, none of it worked.

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue
