Windows 10: How to fix microphone severely muffled in Windows 11?

Hello!So recently I bought a Windows 11 Home gaming PC, and I wanted to record some things with my voice in it using a headset with a microphone on it, and I realized that I cannot use both microphone and listen to audio at the same time only using the headphones, but even with just using the microphone slot only, it was severely muffled. I tried doing everything I could to make it not muffled but it still was, so I bought a converter from headphone jack 3.5mm to USB just to check if it was the port, yes both audio and microphone work now, but the microphone is still muffled as before, the hea

Cowin E7 microphone muffled on Win 10 and 11, but not on my phone.

I've had this issue for a while. I have a Cowin E7 Bluetooth headset. On Windows 10 and 11 the microphone sounds muffled. I can hear myself but it sounds pretty bad. Audio from other sources is just fine. When I connect my headset to my android phone the microphone is crystal clear! This leads me to believe this is a problem with windows. I was not able to find any drivers for this headset on the Cowin site or by doing a google search. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

In order to help you resolve issues with the microphone on headset, we suggest the you run the built in troubleshooter in you PC. Here are the steps:

• In the Search Box, type Troubleshoot and press
  Enter.
• Look for and select Recording Audio, and press Run the troubleshooter.
• Follow the onscreen instructions.

Microphone muffles Audio on Windows 11

Hello and thank you for the response.

Unfortunately the problem does not lay with my headset, as it occurs even when the headset is not connected.

Moreover the problem seems to be related to the configuration of my audio settings, although i cannot pinpoint to an exact cause. I played with the sound settings to no avail.

I use wired headphones and not wireless ones, this very same headset worked perfectly on other windows devices but seems to fail me on windows 11.

My Headset does have a builtin microphone, and is set to "headset" on my realtek app. I tried switching between the microphone on my headset and the one on my laptop, but it didnt change the issue. The same problem persists when my headset is disconnected.

I have already fixed this issue in the past(no clue how) but it reappeared after I had my Laptop factory-reset due to system failures, implying that it might be a configuration issue.

• reinstalling audio driver (fixed the issue temporarily until I reset my latop)
