Windows 10: How to fix "Choose your Keyboard Layout" recovery environment loop?

Hello, I am reaching out because I am trying to factory reset my Acer laptop and I keep running into a "Choose your keyboard layout screen." I have tried multiple fixes and nothing has worked, and I have not found anything referring to my specific problem. The way I get stuck is as follows: 1 I get into the recovery environment, then 2 I go to troubleshoot, 3 Reset this PC, 4 Remove everything, and then 5 it brings me to the choose your keyboard layout screen after a moment of black screen. After this, 6 I choose US, and 7 only two options appear in the recovery environment: troubleshoo

My Acer laptop running Windows 10 is stuck in a choose keyboard layout loop.

Every time I select the US keyboard the laptop just shuts down and reboots.

It then comes back to the Choose keyboard layout page.

Is there a way to fix this that doesn't involve a whole lot of complicated steps?

Here are some steps that you may try to fix this issue. Some fixes would require steps that may seem to be complicated, but as long as you follow the step by step procedure and the video tutorials then it should be ok.

Method 1: Perform a repair using the Windows 10 installation media tool.

On a Working computer please download the Windows 10 installation media on a USB. See the link below.

Start the Windows Recovery Environment from Windows installation media

1. Turn off the nonfunctional PC then connect the installation media you created.

2. Turn your pc on.

3. On the initial setup screen, enter your language and other preferences, if needed, and then select Next.

NOTE: If you don't see the setup screen, your PC might not be set up to boot from a drive. Please check your PC manufacturer's website for info on how to change your PC's boot order, and then try again.

4. Select Repair your computer.

5. On the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot.

6. Go to Advanced Options.

7. Choose Startup Repair - Startup Repair upgrade fixes all Windows errors and retains all files, applications, and settings.

8. Let it finish running. Restart if needed and check your computer after.

Method 2: Try to enter Safe mode via Recovery Environment.

1. Go back to Windows Recovery Environment using the media installation tool again click next > click repair your computer and on the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.

2. After your device restarts, you'll see a list of options. Select Safe Mode.

3. Login in safe mode and let it load to the Windows desktop so that the startup files used by Windows gets refreshed and loads without any interferences on its next boot.

4. Give it a few minutes then reboot your computer and check. Continue with the next method if the problem still occurs.
