Windows 10: How to fix apps after 24h2 update?

After updating to 24h2 the App Store and apps no longer work. Also some programs have not installed and windows defender no longer opens or appears in the taskbar. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Yeah, I've been noting it for months on the refusenik thread. They do NOT want anything older than 10 running.

I still have an HTPC on W7, and every other month I have to fix the update agent in order to get all updates. SMH....

After the hideously long Windows 10 anniversary update, I found that my Quickens (Q10) no longer works. Is there an easy fix to this?

To help resolve your issue, we suggest the following troubleshooting steps:

Method 1: Compatibility mode

We suggest you to install the App in compatibility mode and check if it helps. To do so, follow the steps below:

• 
  Right-click on the setup file of the App and select
  Properties.
  
• 
  Select
  Compatibility
  tab.
  
• 
  Check
  Run this program in Compatibility mode.
  
• 
  Let the app install and then check the functionality.
  

Method 2: Update the App
