Windows 10: How to disable switch between Stereo and Hands Free Mode in windows 11 while playing a game

Hey,i've installed windows 11 and now can't chose between hands free mode and stereo in the soundbar anymore. Usally I always used the hands free mode in game becouse i'm always talking with others while playing. Right now i can't choose hands free mode and when I'm speaking the audio switchs automaticaly from stereo into hands free mode which results in a lag in the game, thats super anoying. How can i disable the stereo mode or update my bluetooth driver to the right version. My bluetooth device is realtek bluethoth 5.3 Adapter. But i can't find any drivers on their page for this device. Windows 11 | No Hands free mode for bluetooth earphones

I think I might have some sort of a solution!

I've been using it for the last couple of hours and it seems to work!

This solution only enables me to use the headphones on hands-free mode (the mode with the low quality audio + mic) so it's not suitable for listening to music or anything like that.

Basically the idea is to trick windows to use the mic all the time, that way the auto switch to audio mode (which was introduced in win11 - see here, and I believe is the one causing this issue) won't trigger and the headphones will remain in the hands-free mode.

Here are the steps I did -

• Preparation Step (only need to do once) do this when you're headphone are disconnected. Not sure if this one is needed but haven't yet tested without it.
  
  • Go to control panel
    
  • Click on Sound (make sure you're not in "View by: category" mode so the Sound icon appears)
    
  • Click on the Recording tab
    
  • Right click and disable each one of the recording devices except for your headphones.
    
• Day to Day use - we now want the headphones to start in hands-free mode and stick to it
  
  • Once again, open the Sound setting and click on the Recording tab
    
  • Connect your headphones
    
  • Now, the recording tab tries to use the mic on the headphone to display the sound level, so the headphones should be in hands-free mode. As long as you keep this window open, the headphones should remain in that mode.
    
  • You can now go into zoom/google meet/teams/any other video conference app you use
    

As I said, this worked for me for the past day... even made some zoom calls and people were actually able to hear me again

Can't select between Hands-Free and Stereo Outputs for Bluetooth Headphones on Windows 11

Hi,

In Windows 10, I could select my Headphone's Stereo Output to use along with my laptop's microphone instead of using Hands-Free Output and Headphone's microphone. I used to use this as the Stereo Output has better sound quality and due to the fact that Hands-Free on most Bluetooth Headphones has some sort of transparency mode where ambient sound is heard.

In Windows 11, this option is simply not there and I can only choose between my laptop speakers and my headphones and as a result, whenever I get on a call, it defaults to Hands-Free mode.

Is there anyway to choose between Hands-Free and Stereo mode?

 

Bluetooth Headset unable to switch between "hands-free" and Stereo

I had what seems to be a fairly common problem with my Bluetooth headset. the audio would sound canny and horrible most of the time. i found a solution that said to uncheck the "Hands-free Telephony" box under the services tab, in devices, for the headphones.
doing so allowed me to switch from the "hands-free AG audio" to "stereo" version of my headphones in the playback tab. unfortunately this also disables the microphone on my headset. Now i am unable to switch back from stereo to the hands-free AG audio version,
even when rechecking the "hands-free telephony" box, completely locking me out from using my mic. at least the audio sounds good now, but i would like the ability to use my microphone.
