Windows 10: How to disable slide to shutdown in windows 11

Slide to shutdown happens of its own free will.I tried every options on this thread https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/slide-to-shutdown-automatically-happens-windows-11/8f59a4df-8f23-4e40-bb03-6ec37b5974b3 but it still occurs.Thanks

How do I disable Slide to Shutdown on Windows 11. It keeps shutting down my computer at random times and I have lost work because of it.

Please try the following steps below suggested by Sawa.

As for your problem, you can try the following solutions to see if they can solve your problem:

1. Settings > System > Troubleshooting > Additional Troubleshooting > Run Power Troubleshooter

2. Open C:\Windows\System32, find the SlideToShutDown file and delete it.



3. Try the repair command to repair system files.

Type CMD in the search box,select the "Command Prompt" and "Run as administrator".Type the following commands in sequence and press Enter：

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup

sfc /scannow

Then restart the computer.

I had similar problem (similar frustration!). It was fixed when I updated the display drivers, which were listed in the Optional Updates section of Windows Update. My situation could be different from yours, so here is a description of my kit and problem:

- I'm running Windows 11 22H2 on a Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 laptop.

--- earlier this week (i.e. Dec. 2022) updates to Windows 11 were installed. The shutdown problem began since then..

- I am using two external displays, which are connected to the laptop when I boot.

- After Windows starts fully, I shut the lid on my laptop. In normal times, this causes a quick display reset to adjust to the new display size. (This would definitely invo the Display drivers.)

- Immediately after this display reset the Slide to Shutdown curtain came down, and a few seconds later Windows stopped.

- Reboot would lead to a Windows Couldn't Load Properly error, requiring a restart.

- Repeat
