Windows 10: How to convert my c drive from a dynamic disk to a basic one.

I'm currently trying to update to windows 11, however, the install keeps failing and one of the things I think could be causing issues is the fact that my c drive is a dynamic one. I've searched for ways to change it back but have been unable to recreate solutions I have seen posted. I'm not worried about losing any data, I've tried factory resets, using 3rd party partition managers, but nothing seems to work. Just hoping someone is able to help me solve this issue, I can provide more information upon request. Currently using windows 10 version 22H2.

Convert Basic Disk into Dynamic Disk

It would be helpful if you mentioned the things that you have tried to do that failed so that we can skip those steps. You can follow the steps provided in the article:

Ensure that you create a back up for your system as well.

How to convert Windows drive from Dynamic to Basic?

Hi Etor. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

You must have somehow set the hard drive to Dynamic which is meant to span a partition over several hard drives. This can happen if you try to create more than four Primary Partitions on an MBR format hard drive, and ignore the warning in Disk Mgmt that
it will convert to Dynamic.

You should also still be able to access the data while the drive is connected as a data drive and you're not trying to start Windows on it. Then you could copy the data off and wipe the drive to clear the Dynamic formatting.
