Windows 10: How do I unistall Cold Turkey (both when locked and unlocked)?

A couple of days ago, I installed Cold Turkey to try it out and to see if it helped me to "detox" from social media and to see if it would make me more productive.

However, despite putting a "timer/schedule" about when the block starts and when it ends, the blocked sites were blocked for eternity, so I unistall it. I "deleted" the icon on Recycle bin, then unistall it the Edge extension. Had no problem.

Later, I decided to give it a try once again since I thought that by settling the "timer/schedule" again, everything would go normal.

That obviously wasn't the case.

I had returned to the same problem. I did the same. Everything was fine until when the previous start time of 8:00 p.m arrived, the program asked me to install it and if not, it would block Edge unless the program is installed. This happens when the lock is on.

It seems that I forgot to deactivate the block, however, I don't remember if I deactivated the block before unistalling Cold Turkey for the first time.

The icon for Cold Turkey doesn't appear. I can only access it by entering through the extenxion.

I can't unistall it with Control Panel right now because the lock is activated and I can't deactivate the block/lock. What do I do and how do I unistall Cold turkey?

This issue might occur if there is change in app settings or app is not installed properly.



To assist you better, please provided us the information below:

• When you say that "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application", are you getting any error code along with the error message?
• When you say that "installed a productivity app on my laptop called Cold Turkey", have you downloaded the app from Windows Store?

I suggest you to follow the methods below to uninstall the app and then try to reinstall the app from Windows Store. Check if it helps.



Step 1: I recommend you to uninstall the
Cold Turkey from apps settings.

1. Click on Search bar.

2. Then type "Settings" without the quotes in the search bar and click on it.

3. Click on System.

4. Click on Apps and features.

5. Search for Cold Turkey app and click on it.

6. Then click on Remove to uninstall the app.

Step 2: I suggest you to reinstall the Cold Turkey app from the Windows Store and check if it helps.

How to get rid of Cold Turkey (website-blocker) / get around the block?

I'm using Cold Turkey for blocking distracting websites, but I unfortunately put it to 20 days and it now gets really annoying.

Many "solutions" on the internet I have stumbled upon are for Cold Turkey versions which store their values (what to block and when it's over and so on) in a text-file. But it seems like Cold Turkey has improved and stores it's values in a SQL-Lite-Database.

Just going into the task manager and killing the process doesn't do much as the Cold Turkey - process pops up around 2 seconds later.

Also one "solution" suggested to go into the "host"-file system32/windows/drivers/etc/hosts and delete the entries Cold Turkey has written in there. Unfortunately - there are no entries.

Is there another way then restoring the computer to an old point (or even setting up the computer completely knew) to still get rid of Cold Turkey or bypass it?

I blocked a website for one month, in error, once. Used the removal tool and it unblocked everything.
