How do I stop my PES embroidery files from becoming NGS Document files?

I have PES embroidery files that show the dot PES extension, but the file Type is listed as NGS Document files. My Brother Dream Machine cannot read these files. I've read other threads about this, but they don't help. Almost everyone points to a program called MyEditor, which I do not have. Others suggest going to the program that was used to create the embroidery files. I don't have a program because I didn't create them, I downloaded them from Brother or Embroideres. I used to just copy the files to a thumb drive and then import to the machine. I never opened them on my PC, I just st

    download .PES machine embroidery

    Hi Gwynne,

You will find those Pes files in your Downloads folder - it is just Windows is mixed up and thinks they are media files . ..

    Open Windows File Explorer

On the left click the Downloads folder

On the right you will find those Pes files, you can then copy them out of that folder and use hem on your Embroidery software or Embroidery machine . . .

  4. How do I stop my PES embroidery files from becoming NGS Document files?

how do I stop my embroidery designs (PES files) from automatically going to microsoft paint folder

when I buy an embroidery design off the internet in PES format ( which is Brother's embroidery machine format) and usually a zipped file. I click on the design, it downloads it and automatically is sent to Microsoft Paint. I use WinRAR, click extract to:
PES folder then when I click on the design it says

    C:\User\Lenovo\Desktop\PES\PES sock pony-\a.pes

    Paint cannot read this file

This is not a valid bitmap file, or it's format is not currently supported

On my old computer , Windows 7 , the design would automatically go into my embroidery software.

How do I stop this from happening.
