    How do I speed up Windows Mobile Hotspot connection speed?


    Hey, So, here's the issue. I am currently at university, and my room's Wi-Fi speed is very slow average 7mbps down/up and highly unreliable, especially for mobile devices. So, I connected my Laptop via the Ethernet cable for a stable connection, where I receive over 900mbps download and 45mbps upload. I used Windows' Mobile Hotspot to connect my phone in hopes of getting faster speeds, however, when used, I only get around 20mbps down/ up. Looking a little more into it, it seems Microsoft uses a protocol which should allow for 250mbps transfer, which I don't get.Any help?Laptop:Lenovo Legion

    Hi All,

    After Enable Win10 Mobile hotspot , it will show the message" You’re sharing your connection over the 5GHz network band. The network might not appear on the devices that can only connect over the 2.4GHz band", and the link
    speed is about 1.2G only with Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) card.

    How could I speed up the link speed of Wi-Fi 6 card?

    I did this but the speed didn't change.

    >>If the problem persists, set up the mobile hotspot on the Windows 10 laptop, then connect to the laptop hotspot and check the speed it detects on the iPhone.

    The hotspot speed shared from the laptop is a normal 120mbps.



    In addition, I use an iPhone 13 to connect to my desktop's hotspot, and the same speed is only 20mbps.

    Windows 10 built-in hotspot network speed problem

    Disconnect the network cable from the Desktop PC, connect to the internet via WiFi, then re-enable the mobile hotspot, connect with the iPhone and check the speed again.

    If the problem persists, set up the mobile hotspot on the Windows 10 laptop, then connect to the laptop hotspot and check the speed it detects on the iPhone.
