    How do I reinstall SHELL32.dll after it has gone missing from executing a "restart and...


    I already went through the basics of running the cmd prompt as an administrator and entering chkdsk /f, sfc /scannow, and all "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup" commands with every single one failing. I even tried running a repair from booting it with a copy of Windows 10 on a USB at start up and that also failed. What else can I do to get SHELL32 back so I can run STEAM again and get into my settings. With SHELL "missing" I can't even get into my PCs settings for power/display settings, scan for updates, troubleshoot, etc... all it can do now is open EDGE.

    shell32.dll and desktop.ini

    Hey guys

    i am seeing many desktop.ini popping up in multiple folders... I know many of you are going to ask, so "Yes", i did change the option to show hidden system files. Im just curious, is it normal for so many desktop.ini files to pop up in random folders?

    I have another question, i noticed that many of them are utilizing shell32.dll. and example of this is:

    LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21799

    My other question is, what does "shell 32.dll -21799" do? I also notice that other desktop.ini files are calling
    shell32.dll but with -2XXXX. Where can i find a translation of what 21799 does along with all the other calls that are made.

    Windows 10 Bizarre RunDLL Error in shell32.DLL

    I have a new (~month old) HP Envy 17" laptop computer running Windows 10. When I attempt the following, I get a bizarre RunDLL error in shell32.dll:

    rundll32.exe shell32.dll,control_RunDLL ncpa.cpl

    The bizarre error is as follows:

    RunDLL Error in shell32.dll

    Missing entry: control_RunDLL

    I selected Install as the Windows Topic for this query because I don't know where it actually fits. I figured either I have a syntax error or there may be something wrong with the OS installation.
