Windows 10: How do I recover my Paint3D projects?

I have made tons of projects on Paint3D, but they occasionally disappear. They still exist as subdirectories under Paint3D %localappdata%\Packages\Microsoft.MSPaint_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\Projects. However, they don't appear within Paint3D, and exist only as .bin files. How do I get them back into Paint3D? Also, what's the difference between Checkpoint and WorkingFolder?

Paint3d Copy item and create new project

Hi!

I'm trying to copy and group of objects in paint3d and create a new project with them. I cant find a way to accomplish it, am I just dumb or does the program not work like that? Another explanation of what I'm trying to do would be to copy and paste as
new project, but again there is no option. Is this possible? Thanks in advance!

 

Recovery of lost Paint 3D Project

Hi Manah,

Try this:

Assuming you have the "Projects\Checkpoint" folder intact:

Close Paint3D

Make a backup of the LocalState\Projects\Projects.json file.

Edit Projects.json and copy the following contents into it and save the file:

Note: If your last saved project was saved to "Projects\Checkpoint (2)", update the paths accordingly in the JSON file.

Relaunch Paint3D and see if the recent project is listed in the dashboard.

 

Does Microsoft "Paint3D" support hyperlinks?

Paint3D does not support hyperlinks, and I assume the main problem with inserting hyperlinks into a file in that app would be the exported image formats for saving completed Paint3D projects like JPG and PNG do not support live hyperlinks
