How do I hide the search field?

The other day I encountered a message from MS having to do with searches. I'm not sure what I did but now I have a large, to me offensive, field. I can get to a menu with right mouse that looks like I should be able to hide it, but I can't. What can I do?

    :)

    Hi Larry,

You can always search for your files with the use of Cortana search box.

If its not visible on your desktop, refer to the steps below to make it available again.

    1. Right-click on your taskbar and choose Cortana.

    2. Select Show search box.

If you are referring to a search box that's designed to look for Word files only, we suggest you submit this as your entry at
