Windows 10: how do I enable popup dialog when I plug a jack for microphone and headset? Windows 11

In Windows 10 when I plug a jack the sistem ask me if it is - headphon - headphone with microphone I update with windows 11 but when I plug a jack nothing appears….where can I enable pop up dialog??Where can I set:- to use headphone whit the microphone of the laptop…?- to use headphone with the microphone of the headphone ?Thanks…

laptop not detecting headset microphone - solved by enabling popup

Hi there, I just experienced maybe the same thing. I have solved that at least on my laptop.
First, open the Realtek HD Audio Manager. Click on Windows icon and type "Realtek" then the "Realtek HD Audio Manager will show up. On the right you will see a word "Analog" and yellow icon like Folder icon. Click that yellow small icon. The dialog "Enable auto popup dialog, when device has been plug in" will show up. Check that to enable and press OK. Once you enable that, every time you plug in new device, the dialog that give us options to select what kind of device you just plug in will show up.
Now, plug in your headset.
Here you will see options like Mic in, Headphone, Speaker out, and Headset.
The mic on my headset was not working is because last time I select "Headphone" and then disable the popup dialog. So, only headphone is working.
When I enable again the popup dialog, then I select "Headset", my headset mic is working. Even, the Microphone options on the "Sound setting" is only showing one mic.
Go to Sound settings to double check that your headset mic is working.
So, be careful on the option "Headphone" and "Headset". Choose the right one.

 

Enable auto popup dialog whenever a device is plugged in

• What is the make and mode and model of your PC?
  
• What is the make and model of your sound card?
  

Ideally, these controls are managed by your sound card drivers. If you’re using Realtek sound card, I suggest you to enable the auto popup dialog whenever a device is plugged in, in the Realtek HD Manager and see if it works.

• Open Control Panel and categorize by
  Small Icons.
  
• Locate Realtek HD Audio Manager and open the same.
  
• Click on the small folder icon below Device Advanced Settings
  and to the right of Analog Back Panel.
  
• Check Enable auto popup dialog, when device has been plugged in and
  Save the changes.
  
• Exit Realtek HD Audio Manager, reboot the machine and plug in your headset to see if it works.

How to enable the built-in microphone when I plug in my headset

Hello OmSanti, my name is Irisdiel and I am an independent advisor.

I suggest you follow the instructions and methods down below.

Method 1:

Open the Realtek HD Audio Manager. In the upper-right hand corner, there is a button "Device advanced settings." There are two options: (a) "Tie up the same type of input jacks, i.e., line-in microphone, as an input device." and (b) "Separate all input jacks
as independent devices." You need to change the option to the second one, separate all input jacks.

Method 2:

I suggest you to perform the task mentioned below to set the Microphone as the default device and then enable it.

1. Press windows key + X, and click on Control Panel.

2. Click in Sound, then a new window will open up.

3. In the new windows click on the tab "Recording” and right-click in the window and click on Show Disabled devices.

4. Now check if the microphone is listed there and highlight the microphone and click on "Set as Default" device.

5. Now right click on it and choose Enable.

Doing this will enable the built-in Microphone.

Check if the issue persists now.

Method 3:

Left click the sound icon in the taskbar.

Select the sound device in the drop-down menu.

Choose the connected headset.

Re-installing drivers

Head to Device Manager, uninstall the drivers for the connected headset. Reboot the PC and connect the headset once again to let Windows reinstall them.

Suggestion: Make sure you use the right ports
