Windows 10: How do I add an existing login in the MIcrosoft Authenticator

HII have to add a Microsoft login to the authenticator app. Due to a change in my phone, I have to add all existing logins in the app. The problem is that when I try to add the login to the app, it asks me to validate the code, which I cannot do since I haven't set up the login in the app. How do I go about adding the login information from scratch? I am unable to generate the QR code.Ant help is much appreciated.Thanks

4. If answers to both 2 and 3 are yes, then what does explicit set up of two step authentication do?

5. Does a coherent, comprehensive document explaining Microsoft account security configuration exist somewhere?

6. If the answer to 5 is yes, wherer is it?
