Windows 10: How can I click the "show desktop" button without also showing my second monitors desktop?

I just recently got a new monitor, and I am VERY used to just clicking the "show desktop" button or using Win + D when needing to go to my desktop. I render and save most stuff to my main monitors desktop and then move it into respective folders when I'm done using it, so I go there quite frequently while watching a movie or watching a stream on my second monitor. I almost always have ~8 windows open on my main monitor too, so having to minimize everything manually isn't the best for me.

If there is a way around this, I would greatly appreciate it <3

Prevent the "Show desktop" button from minimizing windows on another monitor

The button to show the desktop found in the bottom right corner, will minimize all windows across all monitors when clicked.

I find this useful, but on my second monitor I usually run programs like Spotify which I rarely have the need to minimize.

So basically I want the button to only minimize the windows on my primary display/monitor.

Is there a free program that can handle the button click? Or is there an option in Windows 10?

 

How to Show Desktop with Dual Monitors

That allows me to move the tray, but that is not the issue. The issue is that when I have a remote desktop window in the main monitor, I want to be able to click anywhere in the second monitor and show the windows that are on the desktop and would normally
show there is no remote desktop window in the main window.

Hi Dominic,

You can setup the taskbar on all displays so you can click it on the second monitor. Here's how:

• Right-click on the taskbar, then choose Taskbar settings.
• Under Multiple displays, tick the option for Show taskbar on all displays to
  On.
• This option will show the taskbar on the second monitor. You may use this to open Cortana search without affecting your main monitor.
