Windows 10: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GUC0N stopped working after Windows 10 update

My in-built DVD player has stopped working on my Asus laptop. According to information in Device Manager the device is called HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GUC0N and the last 'events' that is registered were on 6/7/2018, the same date I received a Windows 10 update.


The device is showing up in Device Manager and has the driver listed as 10.0.17134.137 and when I try to update the driver it assures me it has the 'best' driver.


I cannot locate the current driver nor any update online as the manufacture is listed as (Standard CD-ROM drives).


The problems the player is exhibiting are the following:

* A DVD was entered and it was never registered by the computer. (The DVD had been played before.)

* The DVD player would no longer eject, either by command from the computer or by using the external button. (Manual button was activated with a paper clip to get the DVD out.)

* The player will no longer open by hitting the button or asking it to eject.

* The computer assures me it is in working order.


I am hesitant to completely reinstall Windows, if this is simply a driver issue. However, any and all advice appreciated.

HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT70N dvd player with Windows 10

I have the HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT70N dvd player in my Asus X55U laptop. It was fine until I upgraded to Windows 10, but now the player is not visible anywhere - no autoplay, nothing - not visible among the drives etc.

In the device manager it is listed as 'other devices -HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT70N - with a question mark.

I can insert a dvd and I can hear that the player physically starts to rotate briefly, but then it stops again and nothing happens.

I have tried to find and update a driver, but Windows says no driver is available.

I am not even sure it is a driver problem.

Please help

Hello,

i have an asus K75V with an HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT70N DVD player. Since ive upgraded to windows 10, i cant autoplay and dvds but i ca have access to the disk as a file and i can see the folders inside it. I dont have any error messages during the import of the
disk and i havent made any changes for this issue. I think that it misses the DVD driver. Please help me solve this!!
