Planning to move system to a new, larger drive again as I filled my disk up with junk again. As I encountered this painful situation for a past migration - https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-10-suddenly-unable-to-boot-after-word/8f50a680-4636-4713-923c-9980d8bc190a - and I'm pretty rusty with the windows recovery tools now, I'd hope to avoid going through this painful situation again. I also saw this question that seem related https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-10-cannot-boot-after-migration-to-ssd/8f9fd48d-b9bd-4429-b802-a8ff13c7ab40&

  2. Windows XP no boot

I have a no boot issue in windows XP. It just keeps giving me the "no boot device" or something similar. It will boot from the Windows XP Home disk without any issues. I have tried replacing the boot.ini, fixmbr, and fixboot. None of these have worked. I even went so far as to doing the repair by installing Windows XP Home. When it rebooted it still gave me the same reading.

I can get it to boot from a Paragon Rescue disk though. I am at a loss on this one. My next step is to run a boot virus check I suppose, as this system had over 300 trojans, virus' and malware.

This is a friends computer that has a bunch of his work related documents so I don't want to reformat or anything unless it has to.

  3. AMD Athlon x2 4200+ based system migrating from w10 32bit to 64bit stuck at windows logo screen...

Possible reason why it’s getting stuck at blue logo screen is because the installation disc that you are using is damaged or corrupted.

Migrating to Windows 10 64 bit from 32 bit operating system requires installation, that means all files, data and applications will be deleted, we suggest to create a backup before the installation.

For the meantime, we recommend to create another installation media using Media Creation Tool and check if issue still persists.

Follow the steps listed on the article below on how to Migrate from Windows 10 32-bit to 64-bit .

Kindly post back with the updated issue for further assistance.

  4. Has the issue related to windows failing to boot a few weeks after the system is migrated...

    Windows 10 fails to update

When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.
